Laier tests Factory KTM’s for MotoTT magazine

On the 29th issue of Spanish magazine MotoTT freelance photojournalists Sarah Gutierrez and Miquel Queralt have put together a special feature about the Factory KTM machines’ test. What made it so special was the presence of 2009 WMX Champion Steffi Laier as test rider.

German Laier of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing started the day of testing on Nagl’s 450cc KTM which ended in second place in the MX1 World standings. According to the Women’s World Champion the engine’s power is impressive and gives a big hand when coming out of the turns. Despite being very agile, Nagl’s 450 is still a 450 and weights more than a 250cc –the bike Laier normally rides. The weight difference is evident while leaning the bike into the corners.

The second bike tested by Laier is the MX2 World Championship winning 250cc machine of Marvin Musquin. Laier’s impression was extremely positive as she found the KTM very agile and powerful at the same time. The power is always there, both at low and high revs, and it comes very smoothly. That together with the superb suspensions makes it a great machine worth of a World Title. The day ended with Laier testing Barragan’s bike, another 450cc KTM.

Now 2009 Women’s World Champion Laier is back to business, training to prepare the 2010 Campaign starting off on the April 4 weekend in Sevlievo, Bulgaria.
